Student Support Services
Individual Program Plans (IPPs)
Students for whom regular instructional methods or curriculum goals have to be changed are provided with an Individual Program Plan. This plan lays out the educational objectives for the student and the strategies that will be used to help the student meet the objectives. An IPP is produced in consultation with parents, and must be agreed to by parents before it can be implemented.
Counselling Services
A counsellor works part time at Wye School. The counsellor provides counselling and assessment services to individual students only with the consent of parents. The counsellor works with groups of students to assist them with friend skills and social skills. As well, the counsellor and assistant principal develop each year a student leadership team of grade six students who are active around the school in various roles of leadership and responsibility.
Learning Assistance
Small group, part-time assistance is available on a limited basis to students who demonstrate difficulties or a lag in achievement in Mathematics or Language Arts. Parents must give permission before this service can be provided.
